Abstract

This research aims to analyze and understand how feelings are expressed in the 5 songs of "Bewitched" album released back in 2023. Furthermore, this study tries to investigate how classification of emotion theory, general & particular meaning theory and figurative language help reveal more profound emotional meanings contained inside the song lyrics. This study research uses qulitative data approach. This type of research is descriptive qualitative through literary psychology approach with a help of general and particular meaning, and figurative language analysis. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. This is in line with the opinion of Creswell in Susanto (2019:4) skinative research is a method for exploring the meaning made by several individuals or groups of individuals. The research object in this study is 5 songs from Bewitched album namely, California and Me, Misty, Bewitched, Lovesick, and From The Start. The research data are collected from each of the 5 songs lyrics and then analyzed using literary psychology approach with the help of general and particular meaning theory by Reaske from How to Analyze Poetry book, and using figurative language theory specifically metaphor, hyperbole, and personification. Overall, the five songs on the Bewitched album form an emotional narrative representing the cycle of love experienced by Laufey, from initial attraction and confusion to deep attachment, suffering and selfreflection. Therefore, Bewitched can be considered not only an aesthetically pleasing musical work, but also one that is rich in psychological and emotional representation.
