Abstract

This study aims to analyse the comparative between Standard British English and General American English found in the Love at First Sight (2023) Movie Script. This research is analysed using a qualitative descriptive method through a sociolinguistic and language variation theory approach. The research data consisted of vocabulary categories in daily activities, spelling, and slang, as well as dialogues in the movie script, which are collected through observation, notes, documentation, and comparative analysis. This study will provide results on the differences in vocabulary in Standard British English and General British English in the categories of daily activities, spelling, and slang. It will also explain the factors that influence these vocabulary differences. In addition, a table comparing British and American English in the movie script will be presented. Thus, this study serves as a representation of the social and cultural identity of characters in the context of communication and English language learning.
